As a baby and family photographer, I have had the privilege of witnessing and capturing the beautiful journey of many families throughout their baby's first year. From the tender moments of a newborn's arrival to their first steps and beyond, photographing a baby's first year is a truly rewarding experience that allows families to cherish these fleeting moments for a lifetime.
The journey begins with the arrival of the newborn. Those first few weeks are truly magical as parents begin to discover the unique personality and features of their little one. As a photographer, my aim during newborn photoshoots is to create a serene and comfortable environment for both the baby and the parents. Utilising soft lighting and natural poses, I strive to capture the pure essence of the newborn, the bond between parents and child, and those tiny, delicate details that fade so quickly.
As the baby starts to grow and develop, so do the opportunities for capturing adorable moments. From the first smile to the first belly laugh, these milestones are perfect occasions to schedule additional photoshoots during the first year. At around 8/9 months your baby's personality is starting to shine brightly. They have developed their own quirks, preferences, and expressions that make them who they are. They may be independently sitting, starting to crawl, pulling themselves up to stand or even tentatively taking first steps. This newfound mobility opens up a whole new world of exploration for them, as they eagerly explore their surroundings and interact with their environment. Photographing them during this stage allows you to capture their sense of adventure and curiosity and these milestones allows you to document their progress and celebrate their achievements. Those captivating eyes, infectious smiles, and the range of emotions they display become timeless treasures to be cherished as they grow older.
The first birthday is a significant event for both the baby and the family. A cake smash photoshoot is a popular and delightful way to celebrate this milestone.
