Preparing for your shoot
Just a bit of advice about what to wear, bring and expect from your session.
Newborn
Newborn shoots are so special, they change so fast, so capturing those fist moments is such a privilege. To get the most out of your session I would always chose a very simple outfit for your baby. They are the main event, and the focus should be on their perfect little detail, so sticking with really neutral colours (whites, beiges, creams, greys) for outfits ensure that theres no distractions or anything pulling the attention away from your bundle of joy. We have a range of newborn outfits at the studio for you to use as you please. I would say the same advise for your outfits and those of siblings, keep them simple, avoid bright colours and anything too patterned or distracting, this keeps the images classic and timeless, never going out of style and keeps the focal point on you and your beautiful family. New born shoots last around 2-3 hours, and allow plenty of time for settling, feeding, changing and attending to any of your babies needs. We have toys and books at the studio but I would encourage families to bring snacks and something to keep any siblings entertained, the sessions can be long for restless toddlers waiting for their turn in front of the camera. There is no need to bring any addition items to the shoot, however you are welcome to bring any props or toys with you. For example, blankets that have been gifted or made by relatives, sentimental toys or items, or clothing that has a special place in your heart. This is your session for you to use as you please. Newborn shoots are best to take place within the first 2 weeks of babies life, this is best for those sleepy cosy shots, but can be done anywhere under 12 weeks.

Family
Family shoots can include the whole family, siblings, cousins, grandparents and even the dog. They are such a fun way to capture memories and freeze time to celebrate your family. The way a family session is planned varies on the amount of people and the ages of any children attending, so we will always contact you before your session to find out the details of who's coming. Its important to consider what everyone will wear to the shoot, keeping outfits co-ordinated is always a good idea, we're not talking full on matching outfits, however sticking with a colour scheme and making sure you're all dressed to the same dress code helps keep the images aesthetic and cohesive. Dressing in neutral tones and in a smart casual style will ensure that the images are timeless and will never feel out of style, you don't want to look back in a few years and think "What was I wearing?!". I would always recommend neutral colours (beiges, greys, whites, blacks and browns), avoiding anything too bright or patterned that will be distracting in the final images. The time a family shoot takes varies on how many people are attending and the ages of children, however on average they take about 2 hours. I would always encourage bringing snack and something to keep little ones entertained while there waiting for their turn in front of the camera. Most importantly family shoots should be fun! The best shots are always those of natural smiles and laughter, the more fun children are having the better the images turn out. Because of this I take a relaxed approach to working with children and let them explore the studio and relax into the session, and will avoid asking them to be in forced poses.

Maternity
There is really nothing more incredible that your body growing a new life, and maternity shoots are such a beautiful way to commemorate this special time of your lives. Maternity shoots are all about mum, they are designed to celebrate the female body and the focus will be on mum and bump. Partners and other children are of course welcome to attend the session and be a part of shoot, however photos of them with mum will be limited. If you would like a session full of images of your family and bump, please book in for a family shoot. I would encourage you to bring multiple outfits to your session, as little or as many as you'd like, and we can decide together on the day what will look best and which outfits will show off your glorious bumps the best. Firm favourites are open jeans with white undone shirts, tight fitting dresses, jeans and bras, or lingerie. Anything that really highlights your pregnancy and celebrates bump. I find that neutral colours work best for this, (whites, creams, beiges, greys or blacks), I would avoid anything too brightly coloured or patterned, anything that will distract from the main focus, you! It is totally natural to feel slightly nervous or apprehensive about having your photo taken on your own, however I will guide you throughout the shoot, directing with poses, and hopefully putting you at ease. Maternity shoots take around 1 hour, and you get 5 digital images of your choice included in your session cost.
